The Art Club is year round and open to any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student who is interested in a variety of fun art activities. Meetings are TBD.

A Williamson County Schools district-wide Middle School competition. Eight students from GMS will earn the honor to compete in March by achieving the highest scores on our qualifying test over eight of the Volunteer State Books. Sponsors: Susan Oldham and Jennifer Keith and Ashley Loose

Meets monthly during lunch in the library to enjoy watching book trailers about new and popular books and to discuss what everyone is reading. Watch for announcements each month!

The Creative Writing Club is open to any students who enjoy any form of writing. Students will meet in the library during lunch on specified days, which will be announced on WGMS, to work on their own writing pieces. Students will also be able to use this time to ask questions and get feedback from their peers.

Drama Club is open to all students at GMS. In Drama Club, students learn about various aspects of theatre arts both acting on the stage as well as behind-the-scenes activities. The club meets Thursdays after school until 4:00 pm.

Generals Serve Club Generals Serve is a new club at GMS this year. Its mission is to encourage students to consider others who are in need and find ways to help. Club members will learn about local and regional organizations that serve their communities in two ways: helping to support people who experience food insecurity and promoting animal welfare through education, rescue, adoption, and spay/neuter programs. Students will learn how nonprofit and other organizations meet the needs of people and animals. There will be hands-on activities, donation drives, and guest speakers. Meeting dates will be determined and communicated through WGMS later in August.

Model United Nations is a club that promotes public speaking, debate skills, and knowledge of other cultures. In MUN, students step into the shoes of foreign delegations and debate resolutions that they have drafted themselves. Participants will learn about the work of the official organization and hold mock meetings. Model UN is open to all grades and meets on Fridays in the Library until 4pm.

GMS is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. The Society promotes character, scholarship, leadership, service and citizenship. Students who are members will achieve that status by completing an application for membership. Applications will be made available in the early spring to 7th graders who qualify. Students must have an “A” semester average for three consecutive semesters; membership will continue through 8th grade.

Mini Mu Math Competition Teachers work with students to prepare for the annual math competition generally held in January. Details pending.

The STARS Leadership Team is made up of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The team consists of students who want to make a difference in their school by addressing prevention issues such as bullying, drug prevention and random acts of kindness. Group members participate in educational and fun activities as well as community service learning projects.

Love to act? This is the place for you! The Spring Play is held every March or April and is the culmination of months of rehearsal. Auditions are usually held in November or December with rehearsals starting in January. It is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The play is student chosen. This experience is unlike many community theatres where everyone is cast in the show. We are unable to do that and students should prepare for auditions as much as possible. This is a great experience that builds friendships, confidence, and an understanding of theatre at a higher level. Sponsor: Jennifer Keith

The Spring Play is produced by students as much as possible. Roles include: Student Director, Stage Manager, Production Assistant, Make-up Technician, Technical Director, etc. Students will fill out an application in October to be considered for these leadership positions. All positions are open to all grade levels. More information can be requested if interested.
